Oreva Super vs NANO

Oreva Super, an electric car which could just be the country's first one lakh car, made by the Ajanta Group, a Saurashtra-based clockmaker, is planning to give serious competition to the Tata Nano. Though the Oreva Super was in the pipeline for a while, sources say production at its plant in Kutch recently moved into top gear.  "This is the first model out on display. I can't share any more details about it as we have been asked to be tight-lipped for sometime. It is just a fabulous car and very economic in these days of rocketing fuel prices," said Yogesh Tank, Oreva Automobiles, Rajkot. "Obviously, it's pricing is so strategic that it will compete with Tata's Nano," he added. Not surprisingly, the Oreva is already generating plenty of interest even though a commercial rollout, first in Gujarat and then across the country, is at least two months away. "I just tried my hands on this car. It gives great feel and it is adequate for a family like mine, two adults and two kids can be easily accommodated," said Vijay Nathwani, corporate executive, Rajkot. "People like us now can really afford to buy a car and whether Nano comes or not and whenever, this car is ready. I am just waiting to buy it the day the sales start ," Nathwani added.

Rising bike prices against decreasing car prices

What vehicle do you want to buy?

It all depends on what you want to ride. A one lakh car or a one lakh bicycle.

India certainly is shining. With all waiting eagerly waiting for the sensex to hit the 25000 mark something people would have never believed possible a few year back, India is really going strong.

With the launch of the Nano by Tata, Lite by Bajaj and Madone 5.2 by Firefox bikes, they way Indians travel is definitely going to change in the years to come. While there has been a lot of debate on more traffic congestion, increased fuel consumption, pollution nobody has been talking about infrastructure. But that is not what this article is about.

We are here to check out three new launches which will affect the way Indians travel. Maruthi 800 is no longer the poor man’s car, with the Nano and Lite fighting for that tag and the bicycle no longer is the poor man’s vehicle with Madone 5.2 selling at Rs.100000. But do we have the space for them to exist mutually. Do we have the roads to ride a Madone with 20 gears and capability to reach 90 kms per hour?

Nano

Nano is 3.1 metres (10.23 feet) long, 1.5 metres wide and 1.6 metres high and can accommodate four to five people.

Madone 5.2
